In 2005, the House of Delegates approved a new set of bylaws which calls for a Nominating and Leadership Development Committee. The committee has four major charges: 1) Report a slate of candidates for officers, AMA delegates and at-large trustees to the House of Delegates. 2) Develop, evaluate and revise job descriptions for each office and trustee with review and approval at the Board of Trustees. 3) Develop, implement and evaluate leadership and succession planning programs with review and approval by the Board of Trustees. 4) Provide oversight to the MMA Standing Committee nomination process with review and approval by the Board of Trustees.

The bylaws call for the following individuals (or their designee where noted) to serve on the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee:

  • Immediate Past President: Serves as Chair
  • President–elect
  • President
  • Chair, Board of Trustees, or designee
  • Chair, AMA Delegation, or designee
  • Past President
