Serving on a committee is a great way to get involved in the MMA. There are nine MMA committees:

Accreditation and Continuing Medical Education
Administration and Finance
Communications
Ethics and Medical/Legal Affairs
Legislation
Medical Practice and Planning
Minority and Cross-Cultural Affairs
Nominating and Leadership Development
Public Health and Preventative Medicine
Quality Health Care

Occasionally ad hoc committees are formed to address specific issues:

Obesity Task Force
