Gov. Tim Pawlenty vetoed a health care reform bill Tuesday that was supported by the MMA and was the product of many months of debate and compromise.
The MMA urged the governor to sign the health care reform bill approved by both the House and Senate.
The MMA is not supporting a bill calling for a constitutional amendment to dedicate the proceeds of the provider tax to the MinnesotaCare program.
A bill to protect a newborn screening program for infants was sent back to a conference committee this week and amended to require providers to note in the medical record that the parents were told they could opt out of the program and were given a chance to ask questions.
Every spring the MMA invites members to serve on standing committees for three-year terms beginning the following January.
The MMA Nominating and Leadership Development Committee is beginning the process of providing a slate of candidates to the 2008 House of Delegates.
Minnesota Medicine invites young physicians to a round-table discussion about the first year of practice.
Nominations are being accepted for the 2008 MMA Outstanding Achievement Awards.
