Three speakers have been scheduled to participate in the single payer forum on Aug. 19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the University of Minnesota’s Continuing Education and Conference Center.
The speakers include: Lynn Blewett, Ph.D., a professor of health policy in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota; Richard Horecka, M.D., a family physician with Affiliated Community Medical Centers in Benson and Hancock, and current board chair of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians; and Dave Dvorak, M.D., MPH, an emergency medicine physician at Fairview Southdale Hospital and member of the Minnesota chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program.
Blewett will discuss: “What is Single Payer? A Framework for Assessing Models of Health Coverage.” Horecka’s presentation is entitled: “Evolving Opinions about Single Payer.” And, Dvorak will speak on: “The Case for Single Payer in Minnesota – A Physician Perspective.” The event will also include a Q&A session with all three presenters.
Cost is $30 for members and nonmembers, and $15 for students and residents. The event will also be live-streamed. To view it online costs $15 for individual, $50 for a group.
This forum is being hosted by the MMA, the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians, and the Minnesota Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program.
