Open Cities Health Center

Open Cities Health Center (OCHC) is a federally qualified health center providing care for members of the low income community. The mission of OCHC is to provide culturally competent primary and preventive health care and related services to all people throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The goal is to improve the health and well-being of high risk and vulnerable populations by providing affordable medical, dental, behavioral health, optometry, ophthalmology, podiatry, chiropractic care and related services.

PHYSICIAN SPECIALTIES NEEDED
Primary care physicians, family physicians, pediatricians, behavioral health specialists, ophthalmologists and podiatrists.

PREFERRED TIME COMMITMENT
Total of nine half-day clinics per month. Each individual volunteer may work as few as one or two half days a month. Specific days and hours can be scheduled with the clinical director.

OCHC offers care at two St. Paul locations:
409 Dunlap St.
916 Rice St. (currently under construction)

CLINIC DAYS/HOURS
Monday 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.
Tuesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERS
All volunteering physicians must be board certified to practice in Minnesota.
Hospital coverage is not essential to the position.
Volunteers are not required to participate in after-hours call.

PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR VOLUNTEERS
OCHC insurance will cover all volunteering physicians including tails. OCHC is a Federal Tort Claims Act Deemed facility and as such, the provider and medical center cannot be the direct target of medical malpractice lawsuits, per U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

MEDICAL RECORDS
OCHC uses Allscripts EMR System. Training and assistance will be provided. Physicians will enter all patient notes but assistance can be provided.
