Conversion Therapy Ban, Gender-Affirming Care, and RFDA Signed into Law

A trio of MMA-supported bills on banning conversion therapy, supporting gender affirming care and protecting reproductive care were signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz on April 27.   

House Passes Health Omnibus Bill, Conference Committee Likely Next Week

On April 26, the Minnesota House passed the omnibus health and human services budget bill that includes several of MMA’s legislative priorities on a 69-58 vote. 

Adult-Use Cannabis Passes Minnesota House, Senate Vote Expected on Friday

A bill legalizing adult-use cannabis passed the House floor on April 25 on a 71-59 vote. The Senate is expected to take up its version of the bill on April 28. 

Opioid Measure Included in Human Services Omnibus Bill

This week, the House and Senate passed different versions of the omnibus human services budget bill that funds nursing homes, programs for disabled Minnesotans, and other social service programs. Included in both bills are amendments to the Department of Human Services’ Opioid Prescribing Improvement Program (OPIP). 

MMA Joins Letter to Cigna on Easing Administrative Burdens

The MMA and 107 other healthcare advocacy groups signed on to a letter sent April 18 to Cigna leadership expressing concerns with its forthcoming policy that requires the submission of office notes with all claims including evaluation and management services, and modifier 25 when a minor procedure is billed. 

Senate Passes Omnibus Health Bill, House Bill Up Next Week

On April 19, the Minnesota Senate passed the omnibus health and human services bill that includes several of MMA’s legislative priorities on a 35-32 vote. 

MMA Joins Coalition Supporting Medicare Fee Schedule Legislation

The MMA joined the AMA and 118 other healthcare advocacy groups in a letter of support sent to the sponsors of H.R. 2474, the “Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act,” which would adjust Medicare Fee Schedule payments annually for inflation.
