The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) released new data on April 21 showing mixed news regarding health insurance coverage in Minnesota during 2021. While actions taken by state officials helped drop the state’s uninsured rate to the lowest level ever measured, racial disparities in coverage worsened.
CMS Opens Online Portal for Disputed Claims under the No Surprises Act

Senate Finance Committee Passes HHS Omnibus Bill

The Senate Finance Committee passed the Senate version of the omnibus Health and Human Services bill on April 19. The health portion of the omnibus bill, SF 4198, was merged with the human services omnibus bill, SF 4410, and passed to the general orders for a future floor vote.

Operating margins for Minnesota hospitals and health systems sharply declined in 2020, with 33 hospitals and health systems reporting financial losses for the year, according to a report released April 19 by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA).
