DHS Set to Distribute 2021 Opioid Prescribing Reports

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is planning to send more than 15,000 opioid prescribing reports to Minnesota Medicaid and MinnesotaCare providers through the providers’ health system or via the U.S. Postal Service.

The MMA welcomed news announced on April 28 that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to ban menthol cigarettes, as well as flavored cigars, through a proposed rule that is open for public comment for 60 days.
Senate Passes Health and Human Services Omnibus Bill

On April 26, the Senate passed SF4410, the Health and Human Services (HHS) omnibus bill, which includes $1 billion for the state’s long-term care, personal care, and disability waiver rate service industries, and an additional $322 million rescue package to address staffing and other workforce shortages in care facilities.
