MMA Physicians Address Medicare, Rural Emergency Care, and Physician Aid-in-Dying at AMA Meeting

Members of the MMA delegation to the AMA helped shape policy at the AMA’s Interim Meeting November 10-14 in National Harbor, Maryland. States Seeks Members for African American Health State Advisory Council

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) invites healthcare providers and other community members to apply to serve on the new African American Health State Advisory Council. Applicants are encouraged to apply by November 17, but MDH will accept and review applications until all spots are filled.

MMA Offering Discounted Pricing on Opioid Prescribing Training to Fulfill DEA Requirement

As of June 27, 2023, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license holders, upon initial registration or renewal, are required to complete at least eight hours of training in the treatment or management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

WARNING: Increase In Scams Targeting Physicians Across the Country

State medical associations across the country are reporting an increase in scams targeting physicians. These scammers typically pose as representatives of law enforcement, a licensing board, or U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and tell the target that they need to pay a fee to avoid arrest or disciplinary action.  

December 5 Forum to Examine Opioid Prescribing

The MMA, Stratis Health, the Minnesota Shared Decision-Making Collaborative and the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) will co-present a virtual forum titled “Opioid Prescribing: Replacing the Contract with Conversation for Better Outcomes” from noon to 1 pm on Tuesday, December 5. 

AMA President Addresses All Gender Health Conference in St. Paul

New AMA President Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, spoke at Rainbow Health’s “All Gender Health” conference on October 28 at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul. The MMA sponsored the event.
