Bill to Stop Medicare Cuts Fails, Chance to Fix Delayed Until March

A bill that would have eliminated a 3.37% Medicare cut for physicians – a cut that took effect January 1—failed to meet a January 18 congressional budget deadline, Politico reports. According to one congressman who championed the bill, the next likeliest chance to fix the cut won’t be until March.

MMA Signs AMA Letter Urging Congress to Support New Medicare Bill

The MMA joined all state medical societies and dozens of specialty societies in signing an AMA letter that urges Congress to pass a bipartisan bill that would eliminate a 3.37% Medicare cut for physicians that took effect on January 1. The AMA sent the letter to the majority and minority leaders of both chambers on January 17.
